After a surprising exit from Pop-Punk trio 'Faculty' Andy Britton reveals the reasons behind his exit and what's next for him as we approach 2015.

There's been a lot of rumours about your exit from the band and it's probably time to set the record straight: Why did you leave?

I just felt my career was going in a different path and that now's the right time to move onto something different. There's no point carrying on with something you're not dedicated to and I felt the band's path wasn't for me. The decision had nothing to do with conflict as publicised; I still love Owen and Mark we'll be friends for a long time guaranteed.

So what's next?

I'm touring next year across the UK, including the O2 arena which I'm really excited about. It's my first tour as a single artist so pretty nerve wracking but my excitement definitely outweighs the nerves. In January I'm working on my debut album - there will be a lot of acoustic songs on there. The album will be less heavy then anything I produced with the 'Faculty'.

What's the best thing about touring?

Getting the chance to interact with fans in person rather than online is unbelievably better. My fans are one of a kind; without their support there's no way I would have came as far as I have. Big props to all those who stay behind to talk and meet me, I'll always wait behind to meet you all.

How exactly did you get into music?

I always had a passion for music from a young age so the drive to succeed was always there. In secondary school I started a band with a few of my mates as an after school type thing but it became more serious and we ended up playing some local gigs. When I was playing a gig a scout spotted me and asked me to attend an audition for a band he was setting up. That band was 'Faculty'. Obviously I got in and that's when my career really took off.

What advice would you give to anyone trying to get into the music industry?

Everyone will have their own view on what improves your chances of getting into the music industry, but somewhere along the line you have to have your fair share of luck. Working hard and putting 110% into your work will always improve your chances, though. So if I was to give any advice, it would be that.

Craziest fan experience?

Most of my fans are amazing but you do get the odd one who can be a bit mental. One fan physically fought their way through security to meet us when I was with Faculty. It was a bit scary, didn't know how to react. In the end our bodyguards dragged her way thankfully. Like I said before though, 99% of my fans are amazing it's just the minority.

Thank you for speaking to us Andy, I know we'll be hearing a lot more about you in the months and years to come.
